According to Vanguard Newspaper, facts have emerged on why the Federal Government reversed her decision on reopening of public universities that have been on strike for 7 months now by members of the ASUU, Academic Staff Union of Universities.   In a court ruling today, the National Industrial Court ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities to call off the ongoing strike which has lasted months, keeping public university students from going to school. Reacting to the development, ASUU President, Professional Emmanuel Osodeke was live on Channels TV where he revealed the catastrophe that would follow the recent order by the court.  The president said the judgment was given to the Federal Government who had earlier stated that they didn't go to court and that tells the type of thing Nigeria is. Breaking news: FG drops one charge against IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu

  The Federal Government has dropped one of the charges against the detained leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Human Rights Lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), who is leading the delegation of legal practitioners representing the IPOB leader, urged the Court of Appeal, Abuja, to strike out the remaining charges citing lack of credibility. The session at the Court of Appeal commenced at about 10 am on Tuesday as Kanu’s legal team mounted a strong defence over allegations of terrorism and treasonable felony. It would be recalled that the federal government had re-arraigned Kanu on an amended 15-count charge bordering on treasonable felony. However, on May 28, the trial judge, Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court Abuja, struck out eight of the 15-count charge. Breaking News: VCs urges universities to merge outstanding admission

  The PUNCH newspaper reported that Universities with outstanding admissions would strive toward a merger as the deadline for the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board's 2022 admissions approaches, Sunday PUNCH has learned. The conduct of the 2022/2023 admissions must be completed by December 31, 2022, as set by JAMB at the 2022 policy meeting held in Abuja, the punch newspaper reported. The Academic Staff Union of Universities' ongoing strike was recognized as a deciding factor by stakeholders at the conference. According to a recent report by Saturday PUNCH, universities failed to fill more than 400,000 admission quotas during the 2021–2022 admissions cycle.   There are some signs that students in Nigeria would return to class after the federal government established a tactical committee to evaluate its "no work, no pay" policy against striking members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
