EKSU suspends strike, orders resumption of students

  The Ekiti State University (EKSU) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced the suspension its industrial strike. GWG understands that the decision to call off the strike was made after a stakeholders’ meeting in the University on Sunday, 21st August, where major issues about the prolonged strike were discussed.

ABSU approves resumption for 2021/2022 academic session

  The Management of Abia State University Uturu has announced the resumption date for its continuation of the 2021/2022 Academic session. A letter signed by the registrar Dr Acho Elendu on Friday approved 29th August 2022 as resumption for all students amidst the continued strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU. The letter also warned that lectures will commence immediately and only students who have paid their tuition will be allowed into their halls of residence. Recall that the ASUU strike has been extended following the continuous disagreement between the federal government and the management of ASUU. Though some State Universities like the Kaduna State University and others have commenced lectures and examinations.

Mechanic shot dead after killing one of the the kidnaper who storm his house to adopt him

The mechanic as well as a kidnapper were killed during a gun battle in NEPA community, Jos Local Government Area of Plateau State. It was learnt that some kidnappers had wanted to abduct Abdullahi in his residence on Tuesday during which a shootout ensued between him and the gang. A resident of the area, Idris Ibrahim, told Daily Trust that the kidnappers stormed the mechanic’s compound around 2:00am and in attempt to foil the abduction, Abdullahi shot one of the kidnappers dead. Idris added, “When the remaining kidnappers discovered that one of them had been killed, they forced themselves into Umar’s house and killed him. The corpse of the kidnapper had been taken to Katako Police Divisional Headquarters. The police spokesperson in the state, DSP Alabo Alfred, did not answer calls

In a condolence message by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, in Abuja, Buhari condoled with family members, friends, Catholic Women Organisation, International Association of Lions Clubs and associates of the matriarch of Bongos-Ikwue’s family.   Soldiers of the Guards Brigade, Nigerian army have continued to raided forests in the Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Niger, Kogi and Kaduna states in search of terrorists, bandits, kidnappers taking refuge their.
