 Over 10,000 Northern Christians Protest In Abuja

No fewer than 10,000 Christians from across the 19 northern states, on Friday, stormed Abuja, to protest the Muslim-Muslim ticket adopted by Bola Tinubu, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The protesters, under the umbrella of All Christians Community of Northern Nigeria, marched to the Presidential Villa to submit a protest letter to the Nigerian government over the Muslim-Muslim agenda adopted by the APC.

The leader of the group, Moses Adams, said the decision of the APC regarding its presidential candidate was not the best for a diverse country like Nigeria.

UK Issues Warning For Extreme Heat

The United Kingdom’s meteorological agency, on Friday, issued its first ever “red” warning for exceptional heat, forecasting record highs of 40 degrees Celsius next week.

The Met Office said there was a 50-percent chance of temperatures topping 40°C (104 degrees Fahrenheit) for the first time on Monday or Tuesday, and an 80 per cent chance that the country’s previous record of 38.7°C set in 2019 will be exceeded.


Buhari Reacts To DSS Report Against Tinubu-Shettima APC Ticket

President Muhammadu Buhari has denied that he got advice against the Bola Tinubu-Kashim Shettima ticket.

The former Lagos governor announced the ex-Borno governor and Senator as his running mate after visiting Buhari in Daura, Katsina state.

On Friday, People's Gazette reported that the Department of State Service (DSS) warned about the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

But the President through spokesman Garba Shehu debunked the information in a statement.


Court Serves INEC Order On Delta PDP Governorship Candidacy

The Federal High Court in Abuja has served the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the order disqualifying Mr Sheriff Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the governorship candidate in Delta State.

The order, a copy of which was sighted by Tribune Online, directed the PDP and INEC to replace Mr Oborevwori’s name with that of the plaintiff David Edevbie, in the governorship primary that was held on May 25, 2022, in Asaba.

Edevbie came second in the keenly contested primary.
